I tried Bonk 2 after seeing a few friends share it in our group chat. I figured, hey, I’ve got five minutes, why not try something new? Five minutes turned into thirty, and while I did have some fun, I’m still not sure if Bonk 2 is brilliant in its simplicity—or just too basic to last.
The gameplay is definitely easy to understand. You jump, you move, and you try to bounce into other players to knock them off the stage. There’s a certain joy in the madness of it all, especially when you time a perfect hit and send someone flying. It can be really satisfying when things go your way.
But that simplicity is also where it kind of flatlines. After a few matches, you’ve seen everything there is to see. There’s only so much you can do with one mode and a handful of arenas. No power-ups, no modes, no sense of progression. You either love the raw chaos or you get bored pretty fast.
I can’t say the game is bad—it’s just incredibly one-dimensional. If you’re looking for a deep multiplayer experience or a game to sink hours into, this isn’t it. But if you just want to kill time and laugh at how stupidly fun physics can be, it gets the job done.
Would I recommend it? Depends. For casual gamers or people looking for a quick laugh, absolutely. For more serious players, maybe not. Bonk 2 is a decent snack, but it’s not a full meal.
